A Tip To Prep For Your Trip

While major cities like Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Durban have safe tap water, rural areas may require bottled water. Always check local recommendations and carry water purification tablets when traveling to remote locations. In some regions, water restrictions may be in place, so be mindful of usage. Consider carrying a reusable water bottle with a built-in filter for added safety. Your Tour Director will be your best guide for knowing when tap water is safe to drink.

Our Tour Staff’s Recommendation

Learn about South Africa by reading a book! Our tour staff recommends “Born a Crime” by comedian Trevor Noah. More than just a memoir, this book provides a unique perspective on growing up during South Africa’s transition period. Noah’s experiences as a mixed-race child during apartheid, when his very existence was illegal, illuminate the absurdities of the system and its lasting effects. His stories about his remarkable mother and life in Soweto offer valuable insights into contemporary South African society and culture.
