“Let's hold a festival to tell the world about our paradise." That’s what Professor Charles F. Holder announced at a Club meeting when the first Tournament of Roses Parade began in 1890. In 1902, the Rose Festival Parade added a football game, later nicknamed the Rose Bowl in 1923. Since then, the renowned Pasadena Rose Parade has expanded to include marching bands and parade floats which thousands today still travel to see each year.
